IS THE SONG FOR THE FATHER/BRIDE DANCE SUPPOSED TO BE A SONG FROM THE FATHER TO THE BRIDE OR FROM THE BRIDE TO THE  FATHER?

It depends on the song.  A lot of times couples have trouble finding any song they really love for the father/daughter and mother/son dances, etc.  Maybe it sounds like a song for lovers, for instance, which is hardly appropriate for a dance with your dad.

So if you have one in mind that would work for the two of you either way (he to you, or you to him), that is great.  If you are still looking, keep an open mind so that if one that works for either comes up, you will recognize it.

Mother / Son Dance

As a DJ, I don't normally put a lot of emphasis on the Mother / Son dance, because it's a modern thing.  In the long lost days of yesteryear, daughters would live with their father until they got married.  The father really did continue to take care of his daughter until that day, after which her care would be taken over by her husband...he really was "giving her away".  At that point, Dad normally backs off and lets them live their lives.  Moms are always going to be there, especially in the lives of their sons.

Normally I ask that the groom grab his mom half-way through the Father / Daughter dance and finish out the dance together.  That shortens the length of the slow songs, the number of songs, and the number of elements that hold us back from getting to the party.

Sometimes however, Mom is insistent.  Perhaps Mom & Son are extremely close.  In that case, you may need a song...
